The Durius Café restaurant chain, Spanish chef Sergi Arola’s personal culinary project, which currently boasts four establishments in Spain, has opened new premises in London. This restaurant, which sprang from an initiative created by the Marqués de la Concordia wine brand, with the aim of integrating a food and wine offer in several select spaces, is backed by the illustrious track-record of Sergi Arola and a philosophy which brings haute cuisine closer to the general public at affordable prices (£24.50 per person).
Haciendas de España, the trade name which brings together this particular form of integrating tourism, gastronomy, and the wine world into surroundings of outstanding natural beauty, boasts five hotels in Spain; Hacienda Zorita, in Salamanca, Hacienda Abascal (Valladolid), Hacienda Unamuno (Arribes del Duero Natural Park), Hacienda San Nicolás (Valle del Duero) and Hacienda Súsar (La Rioja), and aims to carve itself a niche in the UK capital via the Durius project. This unique formula within the hospitality sector guarantees that all the products used by the restaurants originate from and are produced naturally in the regions where each Hacienda is located.
The Durius Café’s menu, developed by Sergi Arola, aims to get the very best out of the exclusive natural produce used in its design via state-of-the-art creations which are well within a reasonable price range. The wines which will be served at the Durius River Café, located in the heart of the City of London with privileged views of the Thames, and facing the Tate Modern, will be provided by Hacienda Unamuno – with the name of ‘Durius Natural Reserve’ – all under the quality label on DO Arribes del Duero. In addition, the menu will also include an extensive offer of wines from the Marqués de la Concordia label, with wines from the regions of Rioja and Rueda.
