Val de Uga, produced by the leader winery from Somontano, Viñas del Vero, has been chosen by the Belgian consumers magazine Test achats as the best cabernet sauvignon, an international variety that has more and more followers in Belgium.

The journal underlines the important advance on this variety in the countries of the New World (above all in Chile, Australia and South Africa).

Since its establishment in 1986 in Barbastro, Viñas del Vero has not reduced its unstoppable growth. Apart from the cabernet sauvignon, the winery works as well, with excellent commercial results, in 750 hectares of their own vineyards with national vine stocks like tempranillo, macabeo and moristel, as well as foreign ones like chardonnay, gewürztraminer, merlot and pinot noir. Moreover, in the ranking of the 60 best wines, another two Spanish brands appear: Raimat de Costers del Segre and Castell d’Age from Penedès. The cabernet sauvignon of the first one is already a classic that is remarkable for its aromas of mature fruit in compote; in the mouth it is meaty, spicy and tasty. The second one presents an intense aroma of toasted oak, with a touch of varietal fruit and licoroso nuances.

Apart from the magazine with the same name, the powerful group Test Achats publishes four other periodicals and a wine guide.
