The exportations of wine from Rioja have grown by 3.3% in the ten first months of 2005 relative to the previous year. The sales amounted to 56.3 million litres, according to the Grupo de Criadores y Exportadores de Vinos de Rioja (Group of Breeders and Exporters of Wines of Rioja).
The turnover grew by 2.17% compared to the same period of the last year, reaching 234.75 million euros.
The most sold wine was the young one or without ageing (25.40 million litres), although the crianza wines have an upward trend, with an increase of 3.11% (16.78 million litres). The sales of reserva wines also raised 15.27% (11.90 million litres) and the gran reserva had an increase of 12.37% (2.30 million litres).
The main client was Great Britain with 21.1 million litres, followed by Germany (10 million). Then, with almost five million, we find Switzerland, the United States, Sweden and Holland.
