Every year, the organic wine sector pencils in a not-to-be-missed date in its diary to attend BioFach, the largest fair in the world dedicated to organic food, natural products, and goods for the home, held in the German city of Nuremberg, this year from 17th to 20th February 2010.

In its last edition, a total of 317 exhibitors, 53 from Spain, showcased their ‘organic’ wines. All forecasts indicate that this edition will close with good results as the current situation is very different from that experienced last year. In 2010, predictions point towards an increase in this type of wine sales on the German market of around 10 percent by volume, a circumstance brought about by the early stages of a stable economic climate.

Sources from the sector maintain that customers are prepared to pay that little extra for organic products owing to their added value.

Of the different types of ‘organic’ wines sold on the German market, reds are the most sought after, although rosés are also currently enjoying a budding growth in demand, especially those which fall in a more affordable price range.

In addition, a new event has been added to the extensive wine offer at the international organic products fair in 2010: BioFach and the publishing house MUNDUSvini/ Meininger Verlag have launched the first International Organic Wine Award MUNDUSvini-BioFach.
