For the second consecutive year, following the enormous success of last year’s event, the Regulatory Board of the D.O.Ca. Rioja has organized the ‘Tapas Fantásticas’ Festival, a wine and food festival that will be held in the streets of London for two days (Saturday the 27th and Sunday the 28th of June) from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm, reports Spanish news agency Europa Press.

The purpose of this initiative by the Board is to promote the wines of La Rioja through tapas as one of the most typical forms of Spanish food. It is also part of the Rioja wine promotion strategy in the leading international markets, among which the United Kingdom is the number one Rioja importer, with over 40 million bottles a year.

Ten prestigious London restaurants specializing in Spanish food, along with two establishments from the Spanish city of Logroño and one from Vitoria, as representatives of the cuisine from the Rioja Designation of Origin, will support the 23 wineries that will offer this year a selection of the high quality and variety of styles in Rioja wines in combination with a selection of the most highly demanded tapas.
