The 13th edition of the competition took place on March 12th, 2006, in Château des Ravatys in the French region of Burgundy.
Over nine hundred wines took part in the competition, coming from more than thirty-five different countries. The judging panel was made up of more than three hundred experts, of which 45% were French.
A total of 60 gold , 185 silver and 63 bronze medals were awarded. Spanish wines took two gold medals (Bodegas Añadas with their Care 2005 wine and Bodegas Real with Finca Marisanchez 2005), six silver (Bodegas Príncipe de Viana, Valonga, Bodegas de Sarria, Gramona, Abadal and Cavas Raventos Rosell) and 6 bronze (Giro Robot, Miguel Torres, De Muller, Vñedos y Crianzas del Alto Aragón, Bodegas Irache and Spanish Fine Wines).
