France, host to the 4th edition of the itinerant contest
Entry now open for ‘Tempranillos al Mundo 2008’ in París
The deadline for registration and the reception of samples is 28th May

The Spanish Federation of Oenologist Associations, organiser of the International Itinerant Wine Competition, Tempranillos al Mundo, has announced that entry is now open for registration in the contest’s 4th edition, to be held in Paris from 3rd to 6th June 2008. This edition is sponsored by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), with the support of the Spanish Foreign Trade Agency (ICEX) and the official acknowledgment of the Ministry of the Environment, Marine and Rural Affairs.

The competition’s main objective is to showcase wines made from the Tempranillo variety heightening awareness in the host country among professionals and local consumers as well as encouraging exports.

The contest will take place over two days, in various blind tasting sessions attended by trade journalists, sommeliers, importers and restaurateurs from the ‘target’ country, as well as Spanish tasters, foreign experts and Tempranillo wine lovers.

The contest has the peculiarity of taking place in a different country each year. The 2007 edition was held in Shanghai (China) with the participation of 415 wines from various countries such as Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Greece, France, the US, etc.

On this occasion, and with the aim of causing an important impact in France, the host country, not only will the competition be communicated to the to trade media, but the results ceremony will offer the press, trade prescriptors and wine lovers the opportunity of tasting the prize-winning wines.
