When Francisco José talks about his range of organic wines, which includes Fino, Pedro Ximénez, Pale Cream and red and white young wines, his voice breaks with emotion. However, he manages to give a coherent and unwavering speech: “We have tried to transmit, through these wines, the work carried out in the vineyard; namely, the sensations felt in spring when everything is in flower and life bursts all around in an unstoppable way. When a multitude of floral and grass aromas impregnate the whole vineyard, and where the different colour ranges make the surroundings a complex yet balanced place. That’s where we would like to stop the clock and bottle those sensations in our wines”, the oenologist waxes poetic while continuing to reinforce the idea that this is the real reason why all of his wines are young wines with no ageing techniques applied and, for that reason, “their freshness, boldness and elegance make them much-appreciated wines in an international context”.

In fact, 80 percent of the wines exported by Bodegas Robles are organic, although at the moment they only represent 20 percent of total production, a percentage that Francisco José Robles intends to increase to 100 percent in the next few years.

In recent years, 15 percent of total production was targeted at international markets, primarily European countries such as Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom. Good results have also been registered in Venezuela.

In the near future, the Robles’ passion for ecology will not only be limited to wines. As part of the bodega’s research and development initiative they are going to make, together with the Andalusian Regional Government Investigation Centre in the Córdoba district of Cabra, a line of organic vinegars that will adopt the same brand name as the wines, ‘Piedra Luenga’, to be launched on the market this year.
