Tradition and innovation go hand-in-hand in bodegas which combine ancestral know-how with the most cutting-edge oenological techniques.
Bodegas San Valero is one of DO Cariñena’s leading ventures. It is undoubtedly the co-operative bodega with the longest tradition in the whole of Aragón, whose track record spans from 1945 when it first joined forces with other regional co-operative associates. Its efforts, throughout its existence, to make continuous improvements, led it in 1983 to adopt the so-called ‘controlled harvest’ technique in an unstoppable quest towards maximum quality. Gran Ducay Bodegas was created in that very same year and teamed up with San Valero to form Grupo BSV.
The Group’s wines are made exclusively from the more than 3,500 hectares of vineyard belonging to the 700 associates who currently constitute the company. The vineyards are located in a privileged region for vine cultivation owing to its altitude, climate and soil composition; a district with a long history of winemaking tradition dating back as far as the 3rd century BCE. Around that time, the inhabitants of Cariñena were already drinking wine mixed with honey, and even the Romans themselves were avid fans of the region’s local brew.
Grupo BSV places its trust in the hands of a first-rate team of technicians combined with the very best raw materials. The team consists of two oenologists in addition to laboratory and field technicians, who carry out an exhaustive control of all the winemaking processes: From the vine to the glass.
