Bodegas Parra Jiménez is dedicated to making, ageing and bottling organic wine under DO La Mancha. This family bodega is located in the vicinity of Las Mesas, in the south-west corner of the province of Cuenca. A pioneering bodega in organic wine agriculture in Castilla-La Mancha, today it has an export volume that exceeds two million bottles a year, thanks to its perseverance and healthy obsession with maintaining the high quality of its wines.
A heightened sense of environmental awareness motivated the Parra Jiménez family into taking the decision to adopt organic viticulture. The beginnings, as they themselves recall, were difficult and required a great deal of effort and hard work, before being able to establish themselves and carve out a niche on the competitive international wine market as well as in the world of organic agriculture, but by doing so, they became DO La Mancha’s first organic pioneer.
One of their projects, for which they feel especially proud, came about in 2007, in collaboration with chef Manuel de la Osa, also from Cuenca and owner of Las Rejas restaurant, located in the municipality of Las Pedroñeras. Together they embarked on a new adventure: the creation of a wine that takes the restaurant owner’s name, launched on the market with its first vintage from 2004.
